How to Boost Your Productivity on a Business Trip

While you are away from the office you will want to get the most out of a business trip but also stay in the loop and keep up to date with what's happening back at the office. Being innovative with your time away can maximise your productivity on a business break. Here are our four top tips:

1 Stay connected

You’ll likely be travelling or waiting to travel for several hours, don’t let that time go to waste. Make sure you can easily access your work; get a sufficient data plan or a reliable cloud wifi service. Check you have any passwords or links to documents before you set off. Also, make sure you book seats on any rail transfers so that you aren't left high and dry. Or why not leave that worry to us and book one of our cars to transport you in comfort, with a guaranteed seat and on-time pick up?

2 Pick your hotel carefully

Consider the layout of the room, an office area means you can work there instead of sharing any conference facilities. Without the associated distractions of a shared workspace, you’ll be able to work far more efficiently. The hotel's location is important too as closer does not always mean better. Choose a hotel with good transport links, particularly to and from other venues and the airport.

3 Organise your time

Your schedule is probably packed with the usual suspects, such as meetings, presentations and conferences, but try to arrange different formats for the times in-between these key events. Use lunch to touch base with colleagues or arrange a brainstorming session over breakfast. Research locations to ensure you do not end up hopping back and forth between venues.

4 Make time to relax

Working non-stop is counter-productive so make sure you pencil in some downtime as an overworked brain will be of little use to you. See if the hotel offers any spa treatments, perhaps hitting the gym clears your head. You may even want to take a moment for yourself with a spot of sightseeing or shopping.
